What is a Certified Water Technician (CWT)?
A Certified Water Technologist, or CWT, is the designation given to an individual in the water treatment field who has met several criteria set forth by the Association of Water Technologies (AWT).
All water treatment companies are not the same, and the same goes for water treatment individuals or specialists. In order for an individual to receive the CWT designation, that person must:
Be an active member of the water treatment community for at least 5-years;
Pass a background check conducted by the Association of Water Technologies;
Receive at least 6 letters of recommendation from customers;
Pass a 200 question examination by at least 70% accuracy;
Swear to a code of ethics by which to work.
What can you expect from a CWT?
Up-to-date knowledge
When a water treatment specialist passes the 200-question exam, they receive the CWT designation because they have proven to industry leaders that they are aware of and are educated on every aspect of water treatment science and technology, from industry best practices to regulatory & safety compliance.
Experience & Reputation
By having at least 5 years of experience in the water treatment industry, a CWT has mastered the every day duties of a water treatment consultant, while earning respect and recognition from both peers and customers as an educated industry leader.
Exceptional Ethics
In order to be designated as a CWT, every water treatment specialist must sign a Declaration of Ethics. This declaration proclaims his/her obligation to honesty, integrity, safety, and service excellence, as well as a commitment to the conservation of resources. Without agreeing to this Declaration of Ethics, an individual cannot receive the CWT designation. If an individual is found to have violated any of the above, disciplinary action may result at the hands of the Association of Water Technologies (AWT).
At GLA, we are proud to have 2 Certified Water Technologists (CWTs) on our staff, with a 3rd CWT in training.
